Data communication fundamental characteristics and components
called as data communication. Communication medium like wire cable, wireless system are used. A communication system is necessary for Data communication. A communication system is made by using physical equipment’s and software’s. Physical equipment’s are called hardware.
There is basic 4 fundamental characteristics in data communication.
- Delivery
- Accuracy
- Timeliness
- Jitter
1.Delivery:System must have to send the data to the specific destination. The data finally have to be received by the receiver which intended for that data.
2.Accuracy:System must have to follow the accuracy in data transferring.
3.Timeliness:Data must have to be send in time. Otherwise the data will be useless.
4. Jitter:Uneven delay of packets are not friendly in data communication process.
Data communication components
In Data communication system there is 5 components. These are-
- Message
- Sender
- Transmission Medium
- Receiver
- Protocol
1. Message: It is the information which to be send to the receiver. Information are text, audio, picture, video etc.
2. Sender: Sender sends the message to the transmission medium. Sender may be a computer, phone set etc.
3.Transmission Medium: Transmission medium is a physical path. From this path a message passes from sender to receiver. Example: Fiber optic cable, radio waves etc.
4.Receiver: Receiver receives the message from transmission medium which was send from the sender.
5.Protocol: Protocol is a set of some rules for data communication. By protocol sending and receiving process are maintained.
